Crazy Weather Anomaly

The rains were falling fast and furious. I was getting along just fine grading student work when a crack of thunder struck with such vigor that my entire house shook; it felt as if it had lifted off its foundation then landed back.

After the holy crap moment, something really odd happened - there was a moment where I felt an overwhelming sense of loneliness. There was no sound, it had all turned off. Time stood still for a moment and I felt a chill, and the only thing I was aware of in that moment was the fact that there was nobody to share it with.

And then, as quick as that strike of thunder hit, it was gone and everything was back to where it was.
